Whew! At last, we arrived in Manila (MNL).
A lot of things to be grateful and thankful for. Some of the many are the following:
- Grateful that our planes (all three legs) did not crash! Thank you, pilots!
- We arrived healthy (remember COVID-19?).
- Our individual carry-ons that were “taken away” from us — at the ATL departure gate — were there at the carousel! Can you imagine me going through our travel without my medicines due to “lost baggage”? Whew, what a relief!
And a lot more to be grateful and thankful for!
“Enjoy the moment… “I always tell that to myself. There are a lot of things (most outside your control) that must align for us to be where we are. From that perspective alone, gratefulness and thankfulness come naturally to me.
Each moment is unique… it will not happen again. Soak that in (look at the minute things and details) and be thankful and grateful. Capture it with a photo would be even better so you can “re-live” that moment down memory lane.
Ichi-go Ichi-e is a Japanese four-character idiom that describes a cultural concept of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment.
Be mindful. Mindfulness allows you to be in the present moment – seeing the present [seeing things that other people miss — recognizing minute changes] with your full sensory acuity hence allowing you to make better decisions… make corrections accordingly along the way.
Apply Ichi-go Ichi-e in life and at work. Try it at least… and see what happens.
The one thing that I noticed after embracing ichi-go ichi-e was that I became more grateful and thankful. Every moment counted. Every moment is unique… my photography and videography increased. I see the positive intent of everything.
Key Idea: Be grateful and thankful… every day… that way, there is no more “same old same old” response when you are asked, “how was your day?”. Apply Ichi-go Ichi-e in life and at work
My succeeding posts are about my family’s travel to the Philippines and Australia… and we are taking SAFe and the Lean Agile Way of Working/Living with us… and see how others outside of the USA are doing with the Lean Agile Way of Working/Living. Each post will have a Key Idea for you to ponder upon if you wish.
There are many other ideas like this — short but sweet ideas — in my new book, ‘SAFe (6.0) Is like …’ . It is available on Amazon… and it has reached ‘# 1 New Release’ several times! Check it out.
