Learning is not compulsory . . . neither is survival. —W. Edwards Deming
My family and I were at the Home Depot today, April 12, 2023.
Bought some vegetable seedlings….
perennial flowers…
annuals flowers…
garden soil and mulch.
That should do it for tomorrow’s gardening.
Whilst at the Home Depot, the idea of this Blog post came to mind.
Our mind is like a garden that needs constant and life-long care (lifelong learning)… and we are our own mind’s gardener… a constant gardener. Otherwise, the weeds will take over the garden (the sea of constant technological and business changes will overrun you. To survive and thrive, you need to be a constant and lifelong learner).
In SAFe 6.0’s Extended Guidance… look for the “Recommended Reading” Guidance. It has two sections:
- Foundational Reading
- Other Great Resources
I have all the books listed in both sections… and, of course, read them all… several times. I can tell you this: get them and read them all — these are all great books for all Lean Agile Leaders to read and take to heart and employ the learnings at work and at home.

Remember: knowing is different from understanding. Employ the learnings at work and at home.
